The idea for “Serendipity” came to Jason Daniel Kowalczyk as he felt a need to give back, to make a lasting impression, and to do some good. He wanted to pick a charity and release a book where all royalties could benefit that charity. On top of that idea had come the thought where other authors may want to contribute. Jason then decided to take it all one step further… He wanted to bring unknown authors together for a charity. Jason decided on the Ronald McDonald House charities and then started posting things on Facebook to try and find others to submit to the project. As the deadline came closer and closer, submissions came pouring in from writers that Jason felt were just as good, if not better than those who were being paid to write. These authors donated their time, writing, and craft to The Ronald McDonald House:

"Vanishing on 7th Street" Clip

"An unexplained blackout plunges the city of Detroit into total darkness, and by the time the sun rises, only a few people remain – surrounded by heaps of empty clothing, abandoned cars and lengthening shadows. A small handful of strangers that have survived the night (Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, John Leguizamo and newcomer Jacob Latimore) each find their way to a rundown bar, whose gasoline-powered generator and stockpile of food and drink make it the last refuge in a deserted city. With daylight beginning to disappear completely and whispering shadows surrounding the survivors, they soon discover that the enemy is the darkness itself, and only the few remaining light sources can keep them safe. As time begins to run out for them, darkness closes in and they must face the ultimate terror."

Lovecraft Styled "The Home" Acquired by Dimension Films

The Home unfolds after a young man is nearly killed during a horrible accident that leaves him physically and emotionally scarred. To recuperate, he is taken to a secluded nursing home where the elderly residents appear to be suffering from delusions. But after witnessing a violent attack, he soon realizes that the screams behind the walls are caused by more than hallucinations, and the residents are being preyed upon by twisted, monstrous nightmares that lurk within the home itself.
The Home stars Brian Cox (The Ring, Trick 'r Treat), Cloris Leachman (Young Frankenstein), Louise Fletcher (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), Louis Gossett Jr. (The Invaders, Jaws 3D), Ed Asner (Up, The Mod Squad), and Fionnula Flanagan ("Lost," The Others).

Trailer for "The Bleeding"

Shawn Black (Matthias) knows pain. His parents and brother were killed in front of him. Beaten, bloodied and left for dead by a gang of ruthless vampires led by the charismatic Cain (Jones) and his lethal lieutenant Vanya (Kat Von D). But like his would-be murderers, Shawn has come back from the brink of death to take his revenge. He soon comes upon Reverend Roy (Madsen), who reveals to Shawn his calling as a “slayer,” the only human capable of truly destroying vampires.
Dark, brooding and with a palpable layer of cowboy justice, THE BLEEDING spins a tale of otherworldly influences running headlong into the very human thirst for revenge. Redemption comes with a heavy, and bloody, price in THE BLEEDING.

Gareth Edwards "Monsters" Director To Remake "Godzilla"

Unless this is going to be remake that is true to the original Godzilla I grew up with and not some over sized dino from the Jurassic period I say BOOO!

Full press release:
Burbank, CA – March 29, 2010 – Legendary Pictures announced today that they will develop and produce a new film based on Toho Company’s famed GODZILLA character.  Through the terms of the agreement, Legendary Pictures has acquired the rights to produce a movie inspired by Toho’s Godzilla, a franchise the Japanese company created and has nurtured for over fifty years.
Toho’s GODZILLA franchise boasts one of the most widely recognized film creatures worldwide, resulting in a series of books, television programs, video games and more than 25 films worldwide.  Legendary intends to approach the film and its characters in the most authentic manner possible.  The company will, in the near future, announce a filmmaker to helm the film for an intended 2012 release. The film will fall under the company’s co-production and co-financing deal with Warner Bros.  Toho will distribute the film in Japan.
“Godzilla is one of the world’s most powerful pop culture icons, and we at Legendary are thrilled to be able to create a modern epic based on this long-loved Toho franchise,” said Thomas Tull, Chairman and CEO of Legendary. “Our plans are to produce the Godzilla that we, as fans, would want to see.  We intend to do justice to those essential elements that have allowed this character to remain as pop-culturally relevant for as long as it has.”
“Godzilla is a signature Japanese character which we have nurtured over the years. It is a great honor to reach an agreement with Legendary Pictures, the parent to many a blockbuster film, and we are delighted in rebooting the character together to realize its much anticipated return by fans from all over the world,” comments Hideyuki Takai, President of Toho Co., Ltd. “We are anxious to find out where Godzilla’s new stomping will take us.”

“Godzilla is emblematic of the kind of branded, event films for which Warner Bros. and our partners at Legendary are best known. We have enjoyed a great deal of success together to date and this newest opportunity represents yet another chance for us to collaborate on a property that is very clearly in their wheelhouse,” said Jeff Robinov, President, Warner Bros. Pictures Group.
In addition to Legendary, producers on the new film will be Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Brian Rogers. Yoshimitsu Banno,Kenji Okuhira and Doug Davison will Executive Produce.

"Buffy The Vampire Slayer" Release date for Issue #40

Season 8 comic...
From the Press Release:
Careful readers may have noticed that the release date of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 #40 has been moved to January 19, 2011. The change in date is no accident. The final issue of the much-talked-about series will hit shelves on the birthday of Buffy Summers.
Dark Horse editor Scott Allie had this to say about the event: "It's been a long, strange ride to the end of Buffy's eighth season, and when we realized that her thirtieth birthday fell on a Wednesday, the day new comics go on sale, we realized we had to move our release date to coincide. We're excited to celebrate this landmark occasion and hope we can gather good crowds of Buffy readers and fans together to wish her well as she heads off for Season 9, a little bit older, her head hung low..."

It's hard to believe the vampire slayer is another year older, but time and tide wait for no man, woman, or demon. If, while reading this, you notice your local comic shop is not listed as hosting a party, have the shop's owner contact Dark Horse, who will provide them with activity sheets to host their own event.

'Spartacus: Gods of the Arena' TV Spot

The House of Batiatus is on the rise, basking in the glow of its infamous champion Gannicus, whose skill with a sword is matched only by his thirst for wine and women. These are the times a young Batiatus has been waiting for. Poised to overthrow his father and take control, he’ll freely betray anyone to ensure his gladiators are in the highest demand. And he’ll have his loyal and calculating wife Lucretia by his side for every underhanded scheme, drawing on the brazen talents of her seductive friend Gaia when it counts. Together, they will stop at nothing to deceive the masses, seize power, and bleed Capua dry in this audacious prequel to “Spartacus: Blood and Sand.”

'Spartacus: Gods of the Arena' Featurette

I watched every week with excitement when 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' aired on Starz. Now I wait with breath-holding anticipation for 'Gods of the Arena' to air on January 21st. This show is one that I have been eagerly waiting to see, especially after hearing the sad news of Andy Whitfield's cancer treatments having to be extended and his subsequent departure from the project. Then all the back and forth over who will replace him and fear of the ability of the new prequel project to hold up to 'Blood and Sand' and now after seeing the trailers and promos for the show, I can definitely say that this is going to be a weekly staple for me, at least for the six weeks that it will be on. I am hoping that they will get enough viewers to extend it to another 6 episodes. It is truly a great story.
