“Darkest Night” Trailer

Darkest-Night-2011-Movie-PosterTheatrical Trailer for Filipino horror found footage flick “Darkest Night”. No word yet on when future US release yet but there is one expected!

Directed by Noel Tan.

Darkest Night unfolds in a “found video and documentary” style. Its story plops American Perry right in the middle of the action to allow western audiences to experience a “holiday” trip away from home. Eastern audiences will identify with the many vivid Asian characters, as well as the local and family setting. Perry’s character in the film, Ken Tyler, is introduced to the traditional-minded family of his Filipino fiancĂ©, Susan Reyes, played by Ms. Gauthier, during a Christmas Day family reunion. What follows is a dark, horrific trip not to be missed, as demonic forces slowly come into play. Darkest Night combines western demons with eastern spiritual traditions to come up with an original recipe for suspense and terror.

The Dibbuk is released! The movie used to be titled “The Dibbuk Box” but now goes by “Possession”. Either way I learned something new about exorcism. And that is this : “there is an actual Dibbuk kit that you can buy! Love it. Knowledge is power. Now check out the first image of “Possession”.

From producer Sam Raimi stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick. “Possession” is expected in August.
Possession tells the story of the Brenek family: father Clyde, mother Stephanie, and daughter Em. When Em purchases an ancient box at a nearby yard sale, she becomes obsessed with her new artifact, and with good reason -- lurking inside is a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host. Based on true events!

My Review Of “Shadow” (2009)

Shadow-Filmini-Turkce-Altyazili-Izle

“Shadow” is a mind-bending venture into the psyche of death, regret and guilt. Written by Frederico Zampaglione, Domenico Zampaglione and Giacomo Gensini, directed by Frederico Zampaglione the film tells the story of a war vet enjoying a getaway in the European mountains wehre he meets a beautiful woman. Plus he as well as his new companion run into some very aggressive locals. The film stars Jake Muxworthy and Karina Testa as the protagonists who run into horrors far worse than some psychotic rednecks. At least that is what your thinking the case is as you watch.
Shadow     The story is multi-dimensional with elements of romanticism, all be it brief, cut short only by the shear brutality of the action, with an almost grindcore feel. “Shadow” gets your adrenaline and nerves going as the menagerie rush through the forest only to discover another more sinister figure in the woods. That is when the true nightmare kicks in. Now even though this film pulls the wool over your eyes in the last ten minutes, the movie has some killer things going on. It is gritty, almost grindhouse and exploitation saturated as a truly evil antagonist captures his victims. A gauntly, sadistic creature as haunting and mesmerizing as he is grotesque and mindless. A true psychotic master fuck with an almost demonic presence.
images     The gore is cringing to say the least. The effects are great. The soundtrack is hypnotic to the point of driving up your anxiety as you watch the scenes of gruesome action unfold. The film keeps you on an intense ride. The downside is the ending. A controversial approach to finality. It leaves you feeling like you have been robbed. It was intended as a mind blowing plot twist to make you think, except it comes off more like a “fuck you movie-goer”! Still I can’t say that this film is crap or that it tricked me out of my “torture-porn pleasure” because “Shadow” is actually an entertaining and intense movie experience. A pretty good film even with the questionable ending.

Latest “LockOut” Trailer Brings Out The Psychos

Lockout-2012-Movie-Image-2-e1324783696705Based on the previous material I have seen on “Lockout” I wasn’t quite sold on the film. I like Guy Pearce and all but just wasn’t sure about this story. Well that has changed thanks to the latest trailer for this futuristic prison riot flick where the presidents daughter is trapped in a maximum security facility. This facility is hovering above the planet and Guy has to go get the daughter and return her home. Only problem is, all the inmates are running wild in the place.

Official synopsis: Guy Pearce is Snow, a loose-cannon government agent convicted of a crime he did not commit. He is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from a prison in space that has been overtaken by its prisoners.

Details For “Heavy Makeup”

Heavy-Makeup-350x454From the Press Release:
Award winning filmmaker Chris Morrissey returns to the horror genre with the start of principal photography on the twisted horror thriller HEAVY MAKEUP. The film will premiere theatrically in Los Angeles and New York in February 2013 with special preview screenings planned this October for Halloween.
HEAVY MAKEUP centers on a serial killer stalking young Hollywood actresses. Morrissey has kept the full plot of the film under lock and key from the cast and crew. “There are many twists and turns in the film so I decided to make this a very interesting shoot” says Morrissey “Nobody has read the full script and the actors are only given the scenes they appear in a few days before they film to keep everything top secret. I’m even filming a couple different endings just to confuse them even more. It’s a very fun way to shoot. So far everyone has their theory as to who the killer is. The answers will be revealed when the film premieres.”
HEAVY MAKEUP stars indie film starlets Share Cherrie and Gia Franzia (who both appeared in Morrissey’s last film Trick of the Witch), along with Beverly Hills Ghost Club’s Whitney Quinlan and Rachel Alig, famous Playboy model Brittany Andrews, Juli Kreko (This Indie Thing) and newcomers Pedro Diaz, Zens Varoni and L.A. fashion designer/artist Anthony Carrillo who is also designing some of the wardrobe for the film.
Morrissey has gained a cult following over the last few years with his campy Warhol-esque indie films Superstar Female Serial Killer and Lip gloss Explosion. Both films have had continuous successful midnight shows theatrically in L.A. and N.Y. His latest film Trick of the Witch opened and closed last year’s New York Independent Film & Video Festival and won the Audience Favorite Award and an award for Best Horror Film. A sequel to Trick of the Witch will shoot later this year with more theatrical screenings planned in various cities before hitting DVD and Blu-Ray in early 2013.”

BD has posted the official poster for the found footage monster movie that hints to either a dinosaur creature of alien on the loose monster, hell maybe some hybrid of the two. The official synopsis is this:
After taking off on a flight from New York to Los Angeles on New Years Eve, the passengers of Flight 37A are soon sent into shock and alarm as the plane experiences severe turbulence. The relentless weather attack causes panic and terror amongst the passengers until the plane ultimately crashes in a remote government-testing reserve, AREA 407. Through footage captured by two teenage sisters, the accident and crash lead to further events that should not be viewed by the faint of heart. As they continue to film, it becomes apparent that the remaining survivors of Flight 37A may not survive the night.

Area 407 will be hitting Video on Demand and limited theatrical release on April 27th, 2012.

My Review Of “Beast From Haunted Cave” 1959

Beast_from_haunted_cave_1959      Last night I actually came across a classic B film that I had never seen so I sat down to watch “Beast From Haunted Cave”. The picture was directed by Monte Hellman. The same man who went on later to film the straight to video slasher flick “Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out!” in 1989. This movie which was shot in South Dakota seemed a bit more risky in its choice of dialogue than your typical 50’s horror story. So right away I gave this picture a little more respect than I normally would. “Beast From Haunted Cave” tells the story of bank robbers fleeing in the snow who run afoul of a giant spider that feeds on humans.

As for the character relations for “Beast” my opinion is much the same as my opinion toward any 50’s films. I just don’t get that people related to one another in such offensive and atypical repertoire. I guess the lack of modern technologies and information we now have really stunted people emotionally in prior generations. I am not sure what it is but even though I like a lot of old black & white movies I never quite comprehend peoples single pointed view of one another in the dialogue. It is just part of the culture gap thing, I guess.
bfhc_shot5l

Anyway despite my ignorance of the 50’s mentality I still enjoyed the fact that this movie was pretty progressive in its subject matter when it came time to display loose morals and wild behavior of the characters. Drinking at ten in the morning, premarital sex, and lude conduct, as much as the censors would have aloud in your 1953’s cinema was ahead of it’s time and showed the first signs of your now classic set up for creature features. There is the group of wayward souls set out in unknown territory, up to no good. Then you have the local legend, attention to animal attacks, followed by the reveal of the true monster plaguing the land.

In “Beast From Haunted Cave” there is actually only one hint as to why this creature existed. Mining in the region had unearth some prehistoric creation. This is the only hint as to how the creature came to be that I could tell. It was also the only mention as to industrialism expanding into nature and the consequences' that could result. This film managed not to be arrogantly preachy. It was just your basic drive-in monster movie. I love it when movies just play out the story with out spelling out the set up or true intent of the picture. This was one of the first classic stories that felt like it was meant purely for entertainment.

beasthaunt8     The story is a good simple one that just start, as if the story is already being told and we just peeked in during the crucial moments of these peoples lives. It was not over acted, well by 50’s standards the melodrama was down played. The monster stays in the shadows except during crucial moments, so the fact that the creature looks cheap is excusable. It is a cool classic b-movie that I had never seen and I actually enjoyed it.

“Lovely Molly” Clip Searches For Answers

lovely-molly-one-sheetLove the feel of “Lovely Molly”. The film is far more than just a documentary style or found footage set-up. It has that ‘Unsold Mysteries’ or ‘Ripley’s’ atmosphere with the whole deep narration. This film just looks really cool.

"When newlywed Molly Reynolds returns to her long-abandoned family home, frightful reminders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. She soon begins an inexorable descent into evil that blurs the lines between psychosis and possession."

“Delta Green: Strange Authorities” is a 388-page collection of award-winning Cthulhu Mythos horror fiction. It includes the short stories “The Corn King,” “Final Report,” “My Father’s Son,” and “The Dark Above,” and the Origins Award-winning novel “The Rules of Engagement.”
“Delta Green: Strange Authorities” is available in trade paperback from Amazon.com, Ingram Book Company, and Arc Dream Publishing, and in ebook for Kindle, Nook, and other devices. A limited hardback edition is available direct to collectors from Arc Dream Publishing.
Shane Ivey, editor and president of Arc Dream Publishing, says: “John Scott Tynes’ stories of ‘Delta Green’ are obsidian splinters of fear and beauty. John brings a sense of humanity, of its love and confusion and despair, to the mind-bending terror of the Cthulhu Mythos. These stories have been too hard to find for far too long and I am thrilled to make them available to new readers.”
The sequel to “Strange Authorities,” Dennis Detwiller’s “Delta Green: Through a Glass, Darkly,” is also available in trade paperback, ebook, and a limited collector’s hardback edition from Arc Dream Publishing.

ABOUT DELTA GREEN: “Delta Green” is a modern setting for H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. Delta Green agents slip through the system, manipulating the federal bureaucracy while pushing the darkness back for another day — but often at a shattering personal cost.

Sir Anthony Hopkins As Alfred Hitchcock

I was lucky enough to be born in 1972 so I vividly remember growing up in the first 8 years of life glued to the small 13 inch screen in my room watching the black & white episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents hoping my mom didn’t catch me because this type of programming was a no-no, she said it gave me nightmares- as if that is a bad thing! Anyway I was hurt when they stopped airing the episodes and slowly began showing Kung Fu theatre type stuff. Nothing against Kung Fu but I really liked my eerie stories. So I am supper excited that they are finally doing a biopic of the legend. I can’t believe it has actually taken this long for some one to get serious about it though!? Especially since the era of TCM. I dedicate my time to the channel anytime they have a mini marathon featuring Hitchcock’s work.

Any way here is Sir Anthony Hopkins as the great Alfred Hitchcock from the upcoming film.

In the true story drama, Hopkins is joined by Scarlett Johansson, James D'Arcy, Jessica Biel and Helen Mirren. The movie itself tells the untold story of Hitchcock's struggles during the making of the 1960 film "Physco". It also follows the late director's relationship with his wife Alma, who is his sounding board and constant collaborator for the fifty-four years of their marriage.
Johansson, who will star as legendary actress Janet Leigh in the film, recently told Access Hollywood that she was very impressed with Hopkins' portrayal of Hitchcock. "I've seen some makeup tests recently, and just watching [Hopkins] play Hitchcock is pretty memorable in itself," she said. "He's gonna be bananas! I can't wait for that - I'm very excited."
Previously known as "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho", "Hitchcock" is directed by Sacha Gervasi with John J. McLaughlin penning the script based on a book by Stephen Rebello. Fox Searchlight Pictures still hasn't set a U.S. release date for the high-end biography drama.

New “Byzantium” Poster

“Byzantium” is Neil Jordan’s upcoming Vampire flick and is easing closer to it’s release date. The film stars Gemma Arterton, Saoirse Ronan and Sam Riley.

Byzantium-posterEleanor and Clara, two mysterious and penniless young women, flee the scene of a violent crime and arrive in a run-down coastal resort. They try to find money and refuge along the tawdry seafront and in the dilapidated hotels.
Clara, ever-practical, sells her body. She soon meets shy and lonely Noel, who provides a roof over their heads in his seedy guesthouse, Byzantium. Clara, always looking towards the future, turns it into a ‘pop-up’ brothel.
Meanwhile Eleanor, the eternal schoolgirl, meets Frank, a kindred spirit who unwittingly prompts her to tell the truth about her life. She tells him that Clara is her mother; yet Clara is only a few years older. She says that she was born in 1804; yet she is just sixteen. She confesses that she must drink human blood to stay alive – and so must her mother. In the small, quiet town, people start to die.
And the past that the girls have been running from for so long, finally catches up with them – with astonishing consequences.”

A Daily Post Of Randomness

Today was and technically will continue to be hump day for at least another 6 hours and for the most part has been a pretty productive day. I took a short walk downtown to the post office where I was pleased to find a new horror disc in my box for me to screen. So with my ipod firmly strapped to me and Skrillex keeping me pumped I rushed back to the house. I screened my new horror treat "An Unholy Exorcism: The Devil Inside" and then wrote my review for the film. Was pleasantly treated to Matthew Ashford whom I watched for a long time on 'Days Of Our Lives'. Learned a few new demon names and reinforced my belief that even rural America is damned! (Shut up! I live in rural America, in the South, so I can say that.)

That movie review followed my review of "Nina: Crazy Suicide Girl" which technically falls on Wednesday because I actually watched it at midnight. It was an Italian grindhouse flick that held a strong message of the darker side of the sex trade where psychotic demon worshiping cults may lurk. So with those reviews done I had a great deal of time to catch up on some of my favorite horror news feeds. I moved on to my next tasks at hand with a nice glass of ice tea w/ lemon.
After adding a few new movie news blog posts the day went rather slowly. Time has passed by with a nice walk through the neighborhood, me leashed to my dogs. I great meal of spaghetti w/meatballs, one of my faves. Then focused on some gossip TV news magazines which I hate to admit is one of my guilty pleasures. This is how my hump day went and I plan to finish it off tonight with two of my non horror themed television favorites, 'Hot in Cleveland' followed (and don't laugh at me!) 'Happily Divorced'.

Beyond that may day may be randomly filled with odd and ends like Facebooking and catching up with mindless viral videos or what ever junk food media that catches my attention.

Hope everyone has had and continues to have a pleasant Humpday!
