Official U.S. Trailer For "Krampus" Unleashes A Christmas Vacation In Nightmareland

The official trailer has finally landed for Hollywood produced Christmas horror "Krampus". I think this is probably the most excited I have been for a big studio backed project since 2009's "Friday The 13th" and 2012's "Cabin In The Woods". At any rate I have loved the Holiday lore surrounding Krampus and glad to see the wider attention given to the Santa sidekick here in America.

"Krampus" is directed by Michael Daugherty and stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Emjay Anthony, Stefania Lavie Owen, and Krista Stadler. It hits theatrically on December 4th. Based on the trailer and material that has come out thus far for "Krampus"  don't expect a big bloody gorefest for mature eyes only. I get a darker, Disney-esque "Christmas Vacation" meets "Pan's Labyrinth" . I don't mean that I see this as a Disney PG themed film but I am not going in with a belief that this is film is a blood soaked, gory, NC-17 horror.

When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (Emjay Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers.
All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.
