General Quotes:

'Paul Kane is a first-rate storyteller, never failing to marry his insights into the world and its anguish with the pleasures of phrases eloquently turned.'
-Clive Barker, bestselling author of THE HELLBOUND HEART, ABARAT, MISTER B. GONE and THE SCARLET GOSPELS

'I'm impressed by the range of Paul Kane's imagination. It seems there is no risk, no high-stakes gamble, he fears to take…Kane's foot never gets even close to the brake pedal.'
-Peter Straub, bestselling author of GHOST STORY, MR X, LOST BOY LOST GIRL, IN THE NIGHT ROOM and A DARK MATTER

'Kane finds the everyday horrors buried within us, rips them out and serves them up in these deliciously dark tales.'
-Kelley Armstrong, bestselling author of BITTEN, HAUNTED, BROKEN, THIRTEEN and OMENS

'Paul Kane's lean, stripped-back prose is a tool that's very much fit for purpose. He knows how to make you want to avoid the shadows and the cracks in the pavement.'
-Mike Carey, bestselling author of THE DEVIL YOU KNOW, VICIOUS CIRCLE, DEAD MEN'S BOOTS, THICKER THAN WATER, THE NAMING OF THE BEASTS and THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS

Praise for RED:

'In RED Kane reveals himself to be a sensitive writer, someone who has a solid grasp of relationships and who isn't afraid to use that knowledge. His characters feel like real people, and that's essential if you're going to pit them against such a foe. He makes you care about them. Then he sends them out into the darkest parts of this urban jungle… So get ready to take this journey through a very modern fairytale. It has teeth, but not just at the end. These days, the path itself is full of dangers.'
-Tim Lebbon, NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author of COLDBROOK, ECHO CITY, DAWN OF THE JEDI and THE SILENCE

'Kane is well respected in the United Kingdom, getting praise from such giants of the genre as Clive Barker, Simon Clark, Jeff Mariotte and Graham Masterton... RED is a tale about Rachael Daniels, a caseworker travelling through the modern jungle - a crime-ridden, gang-banging city - to help an elderly lady. RED not only tips its hat to "Little Red Riding Hood," but "Peter And The Wolf," and "Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf?" and every werewolf type motif in between... This time around Kane puts a twisted horror spin to it, with even a fair amount of social criticism thrown in for good measure; due to mature themes, you'll want to keep the kids away from this one... Kane does an incredible job of combing horror and humour into one tasty morsel.'
-CEMETERY DANCE Magazine

'Kane expands on the "Little Red Riding Hood" mythos with a sharply-written novella that pits a descendent of the classic fairytale character against the "real" creature of the same story. But make NO mistake: this isn't for kids! You can tell Kane had a real ball twisting time updating "Riding Hood", especially in how he has crafted this new, psycho-sexual "wolf." For the sake of not ruining anything else, let's just say RED is a real BLOODY good time.'
-HORROR FICTION REVIEW

'RED is a gleefully gruesome tale that moves at an excellent pace. Its length is a joy, reminiscent of a line from another fairy tale: "Not too big, not too small, just right." Paul Kane does a rip roaring rendition of the Red Riding Hood story… He has the gift of summing up a situation in a sentence. RED is wonderfully written; it is easy to sink one's teeth into it and devour it with relish.'
-HELLNOTES

'RED by Paul Kane is a modern-day retelling of a classic fairy tale. The character of Rachael Daniels is one that many can identify with. The monster is a terrifying hunter who has the ability to shape-shift. He is intelligent, patient, and always hungry. He is the sort of monster that does not need any supernatural powers to make him terrifying, however the added abilities make him even more dangerous. It is entirely believable that he has been doing this for centuries in cities all over Europe because he is so smart and clever, and one is reminded of tales of a dark Trickster character from legends around the world when reading this story. The suspense builds from the very fact that the reader has some idea of what is going to happen. When the woman is murdered in the restaurant bathroom, the reader knows that is not the end and is left to wonder what horrors are still to come. The whole story builds up to a rather fascinating climax…This is a good scary story for those stormy nights or bright days. It is strong enough to terrify either way and will stay in your mind for days afterwards. Stories like this don't come along very often, as all readers know.'

My Five Essentials For Surviving A Horrorocalypse!

Who hasn't set back and imagined what it would be like to be in a horror movie? The dark child of fantasy has permeated pop culture and media outlets in a strong and lasting way. It is in our TV shows, convention halls and even our detergent commercials. I mean for someone like me who has fed off the horror genre like mother's milk since childhood, this is a wonderful time in entertainment and storytelling. It is also a wealth of information about what not to do in order to survive a horror situation, or as I call it a Horrorocalypse!

A Horrorocalypse could be anything from Vampires rising up and enslaving humanity, zombies swarming our neighborhoods and ripping into our neighbors' flesh. Aliens, deadites, werewolves, the possibilities are endless as to the situations that could see civilization crumble, even ghosts could potentially be plotting a tack over of our realm because they just love the way our fear tastes! You never know, So what will you do to try and survive. It is a thought worth thinking! I have a few suggestions and a short 5 essentials list to help me.  Do you have yours?

The team over at Man Crates poses this very question. What would you want to have in order to survive a horror movie situation? Well obvi a crowbar would have to be on anyone's list because that is the whole hook with what Man Crates does. They offer gifts for men   that come in a crate that can only be opened with a crowbar. Of course Man Crates gifts are year round, but since this is the season when the veil between our world and the supernatural world is at its thinnest, anything is possible. Demons, ghosts, zombies, slashers, any number of beasties could be waiting to burst down your doors, ravage your communities, and even eat the kiddies! So you need to be prepared.

Personally I hope my crate contains my 5 essential items for such a situation as the Horrorocalypse.

1. The apocalypse survival kit:

This little roll bag gives you a variety of cutting, stabbing, slicing and dicing implements for any situation. It even comes with a hatchet. A real must have for any nightmare scenario you might find yourself in.

2. The Vampire hunter kit:
This kit has you covered when confronting fangers. You have your trusty stake, holy water, dried garlic, and a diary so you can chronicle your kills, and other thoughts all on a nice satchel that straps to your side.

3. A crossbow/arrows:
Let's face it, the crossbow is a must! And yeah it is because Daryl Dixon made the damn thing hot! Plus you are gonna have to hunt for your food and bullets may be an issue unless you horded them before the shit hit the fan, and a crossbow just makes sense.

4. A revolver with silver bullets:
Because there is always gonna be werewolves, that is just a fact of life! So a revolver or any gun is essential as long as you have those silver bullets. So my Man Crate must have a gun loaded with silver bullets.

5. Edible Plants Guide For Survival:

You really need one of these for those long periods when game is scarse and all the stores and homes have been scavenged out. You gotta eat and nature offers so much for us out in the wild. You just have to know what is what, and a plant guide will keep you alive!

Also before the Horrorocalypse hits know your shit! Learn the Commandments for surviving a horror film!

DVD Release Details For "México Bárbaro"

Press Release:
Hits like The Devil’s Backbone and Cronos helped put Mexico on the global horror cinema map, and now the new anthology film MEXICO BARBARO brings the latest examples of this thriving industry. The film, which gathers eight short films from the country’s leading horror directors, comes to digital download and Dark Sky DVD on November 3, 2015.
Eight Mexican directors unite to create tales of the most brutally terrifying Mexican traditions and legends to vividly shocking life. MEXICO BARBARO presents haunting stories that have been woven into the fabric of a nation’s culture, some passed down through the centuries and some new, but all equally frightening. Stories of boogeymen, trolls, ghosts, monsters, Aztec sacrifices and of course the Day of the Dead all come together in urban and rural settings to create an anthology that is as original as it is familiar and as important as it is horrifying.
The directors represented in this anthology film are Jorge Michel Grau (We Are What We Are, The ABCs of Death), Isaac Ezban (upcoming Fantastic Fest award winner The Incident), Laurette Flores, Ulises Guzmán, Edgar Nito, sound designer Lex Ortega (Here Comes the Devil, Frankenstein’s Army), Gigi Saul Guerrero (El Gigante, Choose Your Victim), and Rue Morgue Mexico coordinator Aaron Soto.
The eight short films, all presented uncut and uncensored, present a range of themes and styles – but all are nerve-shattering examples of Mexico’s vital and world-renowned horror film industry. There’s a modern take on Hitchcock’s Rear Window, a tale set in a strip club on the Day of the Dead, a rash of corpse stealing, ancient savage Mexican traditions, and decomposing dolls, among other gleefully grisly goings-on.
“I recommend this film to horror fans,” said Cuauhtemoc Ruelas of El Mexicano. The films are “composed of eight segments directed by the most important representatives of the genre in Mexico,” said Juan Alberto Apodaca of Disparagidmas.

'Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462' Web Series Premiere Date Announced

'Fear The Walking Dead' has been widely accepted by Walking Dead fans, with the noted exception of a small group who can't seem to get into the slower, more dramatic storyline which is almost zombie-free, focusing more on how a small community in the suburbs outside downtown L.A. are coping with the sudden apocalypse. I for one dig the more stripped down, melodrama side of the zombie apocalypse as the chaos only just begins. 'Fear The Walking Dead' has given a very plausible scenario with real characters that I connect with, curse at, and root for-of course in the back of my mind I am already giddy with excitement of what it will be like when the "shit" really does hit the fan and all those L.A. dead folk slam the small neighborhood hard.

All that being said, it really is seeing all these people at the very moments that life spirals down into chaos and confusion and fear set in surround the zombie apocalypse. It seems that a lot of fans dig it too cause not long ago it was announced that a companion piece to 'Fear The Walking Dead' was in the works. Now we have the true confirmation of said series as it has now been announced that the 16 part web series 'Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462' would kick off the same night as the finale for 'Fear The Walking Dead' season one on October 4th, and then air as promos during two commercial breaks within The Walking Dead season 6 premiere episode on Sunday, October 11. Subsequent episodes, each less than one minute long, will debut every Sunday, online and then on-air as promos during new episodes of The Walking Dead, for the duration of Season 6. In addition, one of the characters featured in the web series will join the cast of Fear The Walking Dead Season 2.

"Windsor Drive" DVD Release Details

Direct from it's U.S theatrical release, Natalie Bible's "visceral" and "stimulating" (LA Splash) Windsor Drive makes its way to DVD 9/29 from Indican Pictures.

A thrilling thoroughfare with stop-offs into Lynch and American Psycho territory,  Windsor Drive has been called "nothing short of brilliant" (beards and fears) and "hypnotic" (Screen Nut).

The "intensive, immersively cinematic gem" (HK and Cult) explores the disturbed mind of River Miller, a mentally unstable 27 year old, haunted by the death of his girlfriend, Jordana. Trapped by the voices and visions in his head, River’s world begins to crumble forcing him to move to new surroundings hoping to calm his demons, but when he moves in with Wulfric and Ivy, two vampy hipsters with an agenda of their own. Everything falls apart and the deaths start again…

Entourage's Samaire Armstrong stars alongside Tommy O'Reilly (The Client List), Matt Cohen (Supernatural) and Jillian Murray (Cabin Fever : Patient Zero) in a Natalie Bible film.

My Review Of "Windsor Drive"

"Windsor Drive" is a highly conceptualized art film that blends psycho drama surrealism with intense, theatrical  cult film nuance. It all works to create a mixtape of emotion driven by tight performances, beautiful and macabre imagery, and melancholia. The film is directed by Natalie Bible' in her feature film, directorial debut. "Windsor Drive" stars  Tommy O’ReillySamaire ArmstrongMaetrix FittenMatt CohenAnna BianiJillian Murray.

Synopsis: Windsor Drive explores the disturbed mind of River Miller, a mentally unstable 27 year old, haunted by the death of his girlfriend, Jordana. Trapped by the voices and visions in his head, River’s world begins to crumble forcing him to move to new surroundings hoping to calm his demons, but when he moves in with Wulfric and Ivy, two vampy hipsters with an agenda of their own. Everything falls apart and the deaths start again.

Now I am sure that the synopsis is what plays out in "Windsor Drive" but I am also certain that I didn't actually see it play out as simple as the synopsis alludes. Confusing? Well so is Natalie Bible's feature film debut. The story is told in fractured moments that I am pretty sure are replaying in the anti-protagonist's mind after the psychotic break. The film keeps you questioning almost everything that unfolds in this twisted bit of psychotica of a success-starved, wanna-be actor just trying desperately to get his foot in the door, even to the point of "taking care" of anyone or any problem that gets in his way. Okay so yeah, I kind of did follow the story pretty well, I am just not sure that it all really happened or was just in this dude's mind!

The cast is amazing.  Young-hot-hipster, ultra indie, retro posh actors/models that are so pretty on screen it is almost intimidating. The scenes and character development is framed beautifully with moments of David Lynch-esque drama and character interactions. The cinematography is is so well done that it is painfully obvious that the talent is beyond seasoned. Natalie Bible's direction is so wonderfully surreal and elevated that you leave "Windsor Drive" lost in a haze of having just finished some high concept performance art exhibition. These are also the things within this film that cripple the overall experience of enjoying "Windsor Drive" as just a "movie-goer".

The staging of the scenes, the high art cinematography that permeates almost every scene, the hipster-trendy, new-young-Hollywood thing, all just seem too much and ultimately take away from the story that desperately tries to be told here. Now don't get me wrong, I have most of these actors/models in several "fuckable/hottie" folders on Pinterest, this whole art film subgenre in suspense thriller is like candy to my eyes, but I would be remiss not to point out that "Windsor Drive" plays out like a weird blend of performance art-music video, and fashion print ad/ultra trendy perfume commercial. These aren't necessarily bad things to have visually entertaining your audience, but they should never over-shadow the story, the story should be the star, and in all honesty it isn't in "Windsor Drive".

Now for the trivial, but all important stuff, that for me as a basic bitch, horror fan, does or doesn't show up in the film. The special effects are non-existent beyond some clever, creative videography gimmicks common in the trade. There is no real "follow through" on the obviously hinted at death/murder/kill stuff. A splash of blood here or there, suggested moments of cruelty and psychotica, but nothing that would pull in your average thriller fan. On the plus side-and it is a big plus, actually many, many plus's. The soundtrack is indie-urban, young, and killer. It plays a major role in creating atmosphere, mood, and emotion within these scenes and the overall effect on the film. Then there is the delicious and gorgeous Matt Cohen-probably the hottest young hunk in Hollywood today! Throw in the uber-fierce femme fatale, Samaire Armstrong, and the dapper, sexy-cool Kyan DuBois-OMG! Those items alone have me sold on "Windsor Drive".  Overall the film is stellar as an avant-garde, super trendy art film with cult cinema flare, but it will disappoint with the thriller/suspense, story-driven audience.
