Found Footage "Capture, Kill, Release" Puts Twist on Infamous Barbie & Ken Killers

Midnight Releasing has released the March  Digital HD and MOD premiere of Capture Kill Release. Co-directors Nick McAnulty and Brian Allan Stewart deliver a romantic bloodbath that blends the true horrors of the Barbie and Ken Killers with the tropes of found footage, to stomach-curling effect.  Capture Kill Release is now available to rent or own on iTunes, Amazon Instant, Google Play, Vudu, XBox, FlixFling and more.

Capture Kill Release has been a hit with critics and audiences since the world premiere at the Sunscreen Film Festival.  The film has screened at genre fests around the world, sending chills through crowds at Shriekfest, Splat!, the Bram Stoker International Film Festival, HorrorQuest, Blood in the Snow, Fright Night Film Fest and many others over the past year.

Leading lady Jennifer Fraser makes her debut in Capture Kill Release as the unhinged wife with awards for Best Newcomer (Blood in the Snow) and Best Actress (Louisville Fright Night, HorrorQuest).  HorrorMovies.ca hailed the film, singling out her performance as "utterly compelling" and "pretty much the female Patrick Bateman".  Co-directors McAnulty and Stewart took two awards (Shriekfest, HorrorQuest) and two nominations (British Horror Film Festival, Torremolinos) for Best Feature Film, with a Best Actor win for Farhang Ghajar as the devoted yet reluctant husband (HorrorQuest) and Jon Gates (Louisville Fright Night) for his turn as an acquaintance who gets too close to the lovebirds for his own good.

A young married couple documents their descent down the rabbit hole as they seek to fulfill one of their darkest desires: kill a stranger and film it for posterity.  Strain and second thoughts pull at their devotion to each other as they carefully plot out a heinous crime for the sake of curiosity. While they may have carefully thought out every small step and detail of getting away with murder, nothing can prepare them with the guilt and the weight of moving on in the aftermath.  Shot in a documentary style from the perspective of the couple's camera, the film follows unflinching as they document their moral decay for the sake of "art".

New Psychedelic Horror Adventure 'Amethyst' On Amazon Prime

The most shocking silent horror film since Nosferatu. Amethyst, written and directed by psycho-sensationalist, Jared Masters (Slink, Ballet of Blood). Shot in 4K resolution, in a secret garden, this highly anticipated feature film is now available to watch free with an Amazon Prime subscription, or rent or download to own (DVD coming soon). This phenomenal picture was the Semi-Finalist this year at the Los Angeles CineFest and Winner at the UHD 4K Film Festival, in South Korea, where it will be broadcasted on local television (SkyTV).

Trapped in a trip. The incredible true story of Amethyst, the girl who accidentally consumed a full vial of LSD, on her 17th birthday, and inevitably begins losing her mind. Follow along, as this profound psychedelic adventure unfolds.

She took too much.

Will she ever return to this side of reality again? Will her best friend, Ember, who gave her the gift, find her, in time?

One drop is enough.

Consumed by a kaleidoscope of wonder, Amethyst discovers a whole new existence above ours, inhabited by female vampires, piccolo-playing eunuchs, romantic noblemen, river nymphs, mystical floating orbs, and a giant stone pyramid that may be her portal home.
A fragile mind in a delicate body.

What critics are saying…

“…heavy on style and trippy nuance, AMETHYST is one LSD trip appreciators of art house horror will definitely want to check out. In this dialog-less experimental film, a pair of women take some LSD and go on a sometimes beautiful/sometimes haunting trek across a mansion grounds, a countryside, along a river, and through a cemetery. Writer/director Jared Masters gives these two damsels room to explore the locale and come in contact with some pretty trippy things along this fantastical journey. AMETHYST is a psychedelic little pill worth popping.”
– Ain’t It Cool News

It is the first feature film Jared Masters has shot outside of California. Introducing Grace Klich as Amethyst, and Valerie Miller as Ember. Co-starring Derrick Biedenback as the Centaur, with The Prince of Horror Erotica himself, Jared Masters, portraying the Nobleman. Cinematography by Takede Osheame. Production assistance and continuity by Matt McPartland and Casey Plemons. Written for the screen and directed by Jared Masters.

"THE ICE CREAM TRUCK" : Tense Thriller Acquired by UNCORK'D ENTERTAINMENT; FIRST CLIP RELEASED

EFM : Home Entertainment and Theatrical Film Distributor Uncork'd Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to Megan Freels Johnston’s sophomore feature The Ice Cream Truck.

Uncork'd President Keith Leopard made the deal with the filmmaker, who made her debut on 2014’s Rebound, ahead of the European Film Market in Berlin this week.

The provocative psychological thriller stars Deanna Russo (Being Human, Gossip Girl) as Mary, who moves back to her suburban hometown after her husband gets relocated for work.  As her family ties up loose ends back home, she moves into their new house alone. And although the move makes Mary nostalgic for her youth, there’s something very sinister about that Ice Cream Truck that patrols her suburb.  Killing.

“Megan Freels Johnston has made a very scary but also very smart film”, says Uncork’d President Keith Leopard. “The film also offers us a unique and refreshing take on a genre dominated largely by men”.

Adds Leopard, “We’re excited to partner with Megan on what’s sure to be an early chapter in her long and illustrious career. I’m very excited about the release of The Ice Cream Truck.”

Says writer-director Megan Freels Johnston : "We are so excited to be working with Uncork'd Entertainment on this film whose niche is a mix of Art House and Horror Films, since The Ice Cream Truck strongly represents both of those genres."

Storytelling is very much in Freels Johnston’s DNA.  The granddaughter of legendary crime writer Elmore Leonard, The Ice Cream Truck screenplay was a semi-finalist in the Circus Road Screenplay competition.

As a producer developing material for over a decade, Freels Johnston worked on adaptations of her grandfather's work and produced Sparks, the directorial debut of Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  After completing a project for the USA Network, she decided to follow her passion and write and direct her own material. Her first film, 2014’s micro budget thriller Rebound, developed a cult following on VOD, was called, “Almost David Lynchian in its strangeness” by Film Threat and Rue Morgue said, the film "(was) worth watching to the end for the unnervingly realistic twist ending."

The Ice Cream Truck also stars John Redlinger (Thirst, Banshee), Emil Johnsen (Isolerad), Hilary Barraford (Go For Sisters), Jeff Daniel Phillips (31) and Lisa Ann Walter (War of the Worlds).

The Ice Cream Truck will be released in 2017.
